Miami Swim Week went down this past weekend, and one of the highlights is always from Mara Hoffman. Known for her Aztec inspired prints, cut outs, and playful color palette, the designer always brings something eye-catchingly chic to the table. This season, it was all about the parrot, whose colorful plumes splashed one pieces, bikinis, and rash guards.
Bold reds, oranges, and greens were offset by an almost psychadelic checkered black and white motif. Models were accessorized with beaded necklaces and clear strapped heels, some with palm fronds dangling from the end of braids.
A colorful geometric pattern came into play on long sleeved one pieces and barely there bikinis, some infused with leopard spots or the faces of an actual leopard.
Clothing ranged from playful rompers to flirty dresses to pool ready caftans, all boasting the neon hues and jazzy patterns for which the brand is known.
While I appreciate Mara’s new take on swim, I felt some of the pieces were a bit too busy. The leopard intermixed with the bright geometric shapes were a bit much, especially on such tiny swimsuits. That said, I did appreciate her more streamlined pieces. The parrots were definitely a fun update, and her signature one piece cut outs were glorious, energized with new color combos. I also loved her high waisted options, along with the addition of rash guards for those who want a more demure pool side seance.
